Pregnancy and Pediatrics

Are you an expectant mother? Looking for a supportive Health Care that honors your body’s natural healing ability during pregnancy and childbirth? Would you like a fast comfortable birth FREE of unnecessary medical intervention?

Many expectant women have turned to chiropractic care to help prepare for a safer and easier birth for themselves and their babies. During pregnancy as a mother’s weight increases, her center of gravity shifts outward and her postural compensations respond accordingly. In addition, the ligament laxity necessary for birthing adds to instability in all of her joints, including her spine and pelvis.

Weight Gained During Pregnancy Leads to:

  - Fatigued spinal and pelvic muscles

  - Stressed spinal and pelvic ligaments

  - Increase in lumbar and thoracic spinal curves

  - Adds joint stress leading to vertebral and sacroiliac joint misalignment

If the pelvis is in biomechanical balance during pregnancy, the uterus will be supported symmetrically. This allows the baby optimal room for movement in utero and provides it the opportunity to develop free of constraint. Misalignment of the pelvis will create an uneven pulling effect on the uterine ligaments. Spinal and pelvic misalignment throughout pregnancy is a condition imposed on the baby called intrauterine constraint. This constriction can create torsion in the uterus, limiting available space for the developing baby. This can inhibit the development of the baby’s spine.

The Webster technique is a specific chiropractic analysis and gentle adjustment of the mother’s pelvis to establish balance and reducing strain of pelvic muscles and ligaments.  This honoring approach creates an environment that encourages optimal baby positioning for an easier, faster delivery.

Women under chiropractic care may enjoy many possible benefits:

  - Greater comfort for baby and mommy

  - Reduced stress

  - Increased energy

  - Improved sleep

  - Elimination of neck, back, hip, and pubic bone pain

  - Restored balance to the pelvis

  - Promotion of optimal fetal position

  - Reduction of labor time and delivery

Dr. Stallaman is certified in the Webster Technique through the International Chiropractic Pediatric Association (ICPA). During her son’s birth, she personally experienced the gift of chiropractic with a speedy 6 hours of labor and delivery at the hospital.
